Lilith and a Body

2023

A short film, 12 min.

Lilith and a Body is a short feature film based on the story of Lilith, a taboo figure from mythology and, according to biblical interpretation, the first woman of Eden. The film works with the motifs of trauma, ambivalence and finding inner strength, taking the original myth and presenting its alternative continuation surrounded by a surreal landscape. After escaping from the Garden of Eden, Lilith finds herself on a new, unknown planet, where she gradually meets several mysterious characters. These encounters gradually reveal Lilith's traumatic experience and help her find the strength to overcome it. However, Lilith’s journey soon turns out to be incredibly convoluted. Combining myth and surreal sceneries, the film explores the boundaries between reality, dreams and mythological stories, as well as raises questions about women's characters and representation in mythology.

Dryaarisi

2022 – 2023

A short film, 4.55 min

A short video poem about a dryad recovering reality while entering a dream landscape. Dryaarisi explores the topics of detachment, unknown territories, and freshly discovered perceptions, depicted within a dream landscape, where a pilgriming dryad unfolds reminiscences of reality, which often feels so close yet still somehow distant. The merge of surreal depictions accompanied by a poetic voiceover creates a scenery establishing its own time and space expanding with the pace with which the dryad uncovers it.

Zagovory

2021

A short film, 6 min.

In Eastern Slavic mythology, zagovory is a form of verbal folk magic. Users of zagovory can enchant objects or people. This short movie works with the aesthetics of Slavic folklore, body, and natural scenery and transforms their mysterious beauty into comprehensive visuals, supplemented by a voiceover, reading some of the authentic zagovory. The picture is focused on the process of purification, healing, ritual, the use of the elements of Slavic folklore, and the connection of body and nature. The central visual motifs use a human body surrounded by the natural environment, various objects, elements, and rituals of the process of purification.

Recycle Process

2021

Video installation, 16mm film

Part of the Final Fantasy exhibition at GAMU, Prague 24.6.-2.7.2021

Recycle Process re-uses the film material from FAMU editing rooms. By recycling the waste clippings of 16mm film, new original work is created in the form of a short experimental moving image composed of many different projects by many different FAMU students, which experiments with the possibilities of the medium of 16mm film. Aside from the clippings, the film also includes various organic materials, like pieces of plants or human blood. The surface has been adjusted with other techniques such as engraving, painting, or drawing. Recycle Process offers unlimited possibilities of interpretation and provides the viewer with the opportunity to create their own micro-narratives.

Reducing stimuli

2021

Video installation

Part of: - Diagnostika vol.1, Industra, Brno, 2022

- FAMUFEST 37 Exhibition at Palác U Stýblů, Prague, 2021 - GIFTSHOP - a fundraiser for Cioczia Czesia, GAMU, Prague, 2021

An audiovisual output focusing on the simulation of the state of an individual who decides to reduce the stimuli received from everyday life. Gradually deforming shots of the details of white fabric representing formability and subtlety accompanied by grading electronically generated sounds are supposed to evoke in the viewer the feeling that the world they perceive and the stimuli they receive from it are slowly losing their shape.
